The Junior Optimist Society provides southern Jefferson County youth an opportunity to learn organizational, leadership, and community service skills through good works in the community. Youth through age 18 may be members of the club.
JOI stands for Junior Optimist International and is a service-learning organization. JOI is the organization that connects all of the JOI clubs around the world.

On March 20, 2021, the International Day of Happiness, the JOI club handed out free signs with words of encouragement to anyone who wanted one. They were joined by members of the Festus Police Department. The signs are meant to inspire people to not give up.

- JOI and Twin City Area Optimist clubs shopped for the Crisis Nursery in November. Checked out with 109 items in less than an hour. Thanks to all involved. What a team and lots of fun. Because of this project children will have a better Christmas with essentials and toys.
