Head Start Photo Gallery

Volunteers plan classroom parties for the kids with games and treats.  We give toys, educational materials, coats, and other items to economically disadvantaged 3 - 5 year old children in southern Jefferson County at the Head Start schools in DeSoto and Hematite.

 In 2023, in honor of our club's 35th year, we contributed to additional Head Start Projects.  We sponsored an eagle scout who built library boxes for several of the Head Start sites to support Head Start’s goal to encourage reading for both adults and children.  Club members contributed approximately 500 adult and children's books to get the project going!  In addition, the club purchased several park quality picnic tables as well as outdoor play items for staff and children to use to enjoy the outdoors.   

  Twice a year, we provide Head Start families with generous grocery support—enough to carry them through several weeks and help them enjoy meaningful holiday celebrations.
